Nikki Tam began practicing Hatha Yoga seven years ago and began teaching Bikram Yoga in 2007. She is currently a certified Bikram Yoga Instructor outside of Chicago. Nikki started leading children's Hatha Yoga classes two years ago and last year she headed the first Bikram Yoga Youth Camp which was a three week long program with yogis ranging from the ages of six years old up to seventeen years old. For three weeks the youth established a daily yoga practice and also worked daily on their three-minute routines in order to train for the Illinois Yoga Asana Championship 2011. Two of the youth placed in their division taking medals in 1st and 2nd place.
Nikki believes that children are advanced yogis with the ability to move in an out of classical Hatha Yoga postures with ease and grace. Through her experience she has observed that children are natural born yogis and simply enjoy being in the yoga room. Nikki believes and teaches that in yoga everybody is equal and that we all have an amazing capacity to shine in the yoga room and beyond.
It's Nikki dream to travel and teach yoga around the world which she will do early next year and then return to Guadalajara and open a studio of her own. She is extremely excited to visit Bikram Yoga Central Miami and be a part of building a new community of yogis young and old. Nikki and Carrie know each other through their passion and love for the yoga. They have participated in yoga trainings together that consisted of "eating, sleeping, breathing" yoga for about a month. Nikki states, "It's an honor to be asked to assist in teaching the very first yoga class for children at Bikram Yoga Central Miami." Nikki has two children, Cruz who will be 8 years old and Apollo Jet who 1 year old.
